Manage projects

Create projects, select the active project, and manage its name, description, and output languages.

What are projects used for?

A project is a separate workspace within your Nifelo account. It contains its own data sources, Smart Products, sales channels, and settings. This lets you keep different stores, brands, or business units separate.

The project selector at the top left of the workspace shows which project is currently active. Pages for data sources, products, and sales channels always use this active project.

Before making a change, check that the correct project is active. Data and settings from one project are not automatically applied to another project.

Open the project overview

Open Projects from the main menu to view all projects available to your account. For each project, you can see:

  • the project name and optional description;
  • the number of connected data sources;
  • the number of connected sales channels;
  • whether the project is currently active;
  • actions to activate, edit, or—when allowed—delete the project.

When there are many projects, the overview is divided into multiple pages.

Create a new project

Click New project and enter at least a recognizable project name. A description is optional, but helps distinguish projects with similar names.

Also select the active output languages required by the project. After saving, the project appears in the overview. Activate it before managing its data sources and sales channels.

The maximum number of projects depends on your subscription. When the project limit has been reached, the button remains visible but no additional project can be created. Review the available subscriptions or delete only a project that is no longer required.

Select the active project

You can activate a project from the project overview or with the selector at the top left. Nifelo stores the active project for your current workspace session.

The active project determines which:

  • data sources and imported products you see;
  • mappings, categorization, and normalization you manage;
  • sales channels and exports are available;
  • project settings and languages are used.

Activating a project does not move or copy data. It only switches your workspace.

Edit project settings

Open a project with the edit button or click its name. You can then change the project name, description, and active output languages.

Project name and description

Use a name that other administrators can immediately recognize, such as a brand or store name. Use the description for additional context, not for data that a source or sales channel must process.

Renaming a project does not change its connected data sources, products, or sales channels.

Active output languages

Active languages determine the languages for which localized product data can be managed within the project. This selection is used by features such as Data Normalization and other multilingual project settings.

Select only the languages the project actually needs. Before removing a language, check whether existing translations or sales channels still use it. Disabling a language does not automatically translate or remove data previously published to an external sales channel.

The Nifelo interface language is separate from a project's active output languages. The interface can be English while the project manages Dutch, German, and French product data.

Delete a project

A project can only be deleted when at least one other project remains in the account. This prevents the account from being left without a usable workspace.

Deleting a project is a significant action. First check carefully:

  1. that you opened the correct project;
  2. whether important source, product, or export data is still needed;
  3. whether connected processes or sales channels must be stopped first;
  4. which other project should become active or default afterward.

If you delete the active or default project, Nifelo selects one of the remaining projects as its replacement. A deleted project disappears from the overview and deletion is not intended as a temporary archiving method.

Recommended workflow

Give every project a clear name and description, configure the required languages early, and always check the project selector before changing data sources or sales channels. Use separate projects when data, settings, and channels genuinely need to remain separate.
