Price normalization during import

Common price formats are converted to Nifelo’s canonical price notation during import.

One canonical price notation

During import, Nifelo converts common European and English price formats to a decimal string with a dot and two decimals. The same rules apply to price and sale_price; the original input remains available in the raw source data.

A single separator followed by exactly three digits is treated as a thousands separator, so both 1,250 and 1.250 become 1250.00. A value starting with zero is the exception: 0,125 is rounded to 0.13.

Prices with more than two decimals are rounded half-up. For example, 1,2549 becomes 1.25, while 1,2550 and 1,2579 become 1.26.

Currency markers are removed but currencies are not converted. Invalid text or broken grouping remains invalid and is reported by data validation. SmartField price represents a normal two-decimal retail price and is not intended for exchange rates or other values that must retain three decimals.
